State of the Internet Explained via Infographic

State of the Internet

I recently posted about an infographic regarding “If You Printed Twitter”, and now, here’s another one similar to it. Let’s take a look at the current state of the internet today.

Here a summarized information about the infographics below:

  • 74% of men use the Internet, and so do 74% of women. So that means that, there’s no gender bias when it comes to the Internet.
  • The older people are, the less likely they are to use the Internet. 93% of people ages 18-29 years old use it, but only 38% of people 65+ years old do. 65 years old is where the big drop off happens, though; 70% of people 50 – 64 are online.
  • The higher their income level, the more likely it is that someone has broadband access.
  • 94% of college grads are online, while only 39% of people with less than a high school education are.
  • 58% have a desktop computer. 46% have a laptop.
  • 54% of bloggers consider themselves experts on whatever it is they’re blogging about.
  • Norway ranked number 1 of the country with the highest level of Internet penetration. It’s odd that the United States is in 5th place.
  • Japan has the fastest Internet connections on average. No surprise there. (Not sure if this is accurate. The last time I checked, it was Korea.)

Apple iPad Tablet Officially Unveiled

Apple Unveils iPad

Apple officially unveiled their new product, The Apple iPad. It will debut this April 2010 with a starting price tag of $499. A shocking price considering rumors that the iPad would be priced at around $1,000 up by some analysts.

Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs billed the iPad as “so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a smart phone.” That is because the design of iPad looks more like Apple’s iPhone but just larger in size similar to a notebook.

The iPad has a dimensions of 9.56 h x 7.47 w, half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds (.68 kg) Wi-Fi model; 1.6 pounds (.73 kg) Wi-Fi + 3G model and comes with a built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The battery life can last 10 hours and can sit for a month on a standby without charging. There will be three different iPad models as follows: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB and will be priced at $499, $599 and $699. Additional $130 if you want the iPad to have both Wi-Fi and 3G.

Apple has also launched the Official iPad Page up and running if you like to give it a look.

Dancing Inmates – For Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ DVD

January 26th, 2010 No comments »

I know it’s a little bit late but I decided to post it anyway. Michael Jackson’s long-time choreographer Travis Payne and his dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid visited the Filipino Dancing Inmates from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) which is a maximum security prison. Travis Payne along with his two dancers taught the inmates some new routines for a special dance video that will be released to coincide with the “This Is It” DVD launch this month.

“Michael saw the Cebu dancing inmates on YouTube and enjoyed them immensely. During rehearsals, we would watch and he would get tremendous joy,” Jackson’s world-famous choreographer, Travis Payne said.

If You Printed Twitter This Is How It Would Look Like

January 20th, 2010 1 comment »

If You Print TwitterCreativeCloud imagined printing Twitter and laid it out in a detailed graphic that sums up the questions.

Printing Twitter will definitely consume a lot of money and work force. Can’t imagine if Facebook or Wikipedia will be printed as well. :) Below is the Twitter mathematical figure.

Here’s a breakdown of the graphics below:

If You Printed Twitter…

  • …the seven billion tweets to date are composed of 104,860,000,000 words, as many as 133,000 copies of the the King James version of the Bible.
  • …it would cover 350 million sheets of paper, which is 37 times the number of pages used in bills introduced in the United States Congress since 1955.
  • …the paper would weigh three and a half million pounds, the equivalent of 82 school buses fully loaded with 84 happily tweeting kids.
  • …and did nothing but read tweets throughout the entire work day, it would take 2,912 years to get through it.
  • …and laid the pages end to end, they would stretch 60,763 miles or two and a half times around the earth.
  • …on an average HP Inkjet printer, it would cost you $24,500,000 to print in black ink or $55,606,250 to include the Twitter blue.
  • …keeping up with the 26 million tweets daily would require 30 inkjet printers working around the clock to print more than 1,300,000 pages every day.

Tekken Movie Trailer 2010

January 17th, 2010 No comments »

This Tekken Movie trailer didn’t turned out as what I expected. I’ve been waiting for so long to see this trailer and now it looks really bad. :( The characters looks fine but the action scene is not that appealing. This movie is an Indie film and maybe that’s the reason why it looks bad. If this is a Hollywood movie, maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as this.

The cast includes Jon Foo as Jin Kazama, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Heihachi Mishima, Luke Goss as Steve Fox, Lateef Crowder as Eddy Gordo and many more. The film was directed by Dwight H. Little. It will premiere in Japan this coming March 6, 2010. Release date for USA is not yet finalized. Source: [IMDB]

Site Recommendation: Pixlr Editor

Pixlr Logo

Okay. From now on, I will try to update my blog once in a while with some site recommendation that I think is interesting and helpful for everyone. My first site recommendation is the Pixlr Editor. This can be a very big help for all designers out there or for some quick photo editing, cropping or any sort of what basic photoshop software can do. The best thing here is that this Photo editor software is a web-based software and is FREE! Very useful for emergency needs of editing or cropping a picture. I always use this whenever I bump into a computer with no Adobe Photoshop installed and I need to edit or resize a picture in an instant.

Check out the interface:
