Site Recommendation: FileHippo.com

March 4th, 2010

FileHippo

A few hours ago, I asked one of our IT guy here to install a particular software on my computer and he downloaded it on this site. I’m glad he reminded me this site that I bookmarked a few years back whenever I need a certain software to use. So here is an old site that I recommend to everyone. I’m sure this will be a big help specially if you get tired of browsing the software you need around the web and end up with nothing. Some of the best stuff to download there includes browser and plug-ins, file sharing software, anti-virus, drivers, audio and video software and more!

Chatroulette Explained

February 25th, 2010

Roulette

Chatroulette became very popular since the day I first came across this wonderful site. This website doesn’t have a wheel to spin just like the casino game Roulette but instead, you can video, voice and text chat with a random person around the world. And the interesting part is that, you can be in front of a totally random, weird and pervert person. And if you don’t feel like chatting with that person, you just spin the wheel by clicking the “Next” button. Sweet!

Anyway, the video below is from Casey Neistat who did an experiment about this amazing site. It is a very entertaining introduction for you guys who haven’t tried spinning the wheels yet. According to the video, there are about 71% Male, 15% Female, 14% Pervert who uses Chatroulette! Check it out:

Google Officially Unveiled Google Buzz

February 11th, 2010

Google Buzz

Google officially unveiled their new product, the Google Buzz. Their newest product for social media which confirms some previous reports that Gmail will integrate a social media feature. Seems like communication on the web has been evolved recently beyond just a simple email and chat such as the Google Wave. And now we have Google Buzz! :)

From Google Blog:

Google Buzz is a new way to start conversations about the things you find interesting. It’s built right into Gmail, so you don’t have to peck out an entirely new set of friends from scratch — it just works. If you think about it, there’s always been a big social network underlying Gmail. Buzz brings this network to the surface by automatically setting you up to follow the people you email and chat with the most.

Here are the 5 key features that defines Google Buzz.

  • Auto-following
  • Rich, fast sharing experience
  • Public and private sharing
  • Inbox integration
  • Just the good stuff

State of the Internet Explained via Infographic

February 3rd, 2010

State of the Internet

I recently posted about an infographic regarding “If You Printed Twitter”, and now, here’s another one similar to it. Let’s take a look at the current state of the internet today.

Here a summarized information about the infographics below:

  • 74% of men use the Internet, and so do 74% of women. So that means that, there’s no gender bias when it comes to the Internet.
  • The older people are, the less likely they are to use the Internet. 93% of people ages 18-29 years old use it, but only 38% of people 65+ years old do. 65 years old is where the big drop off happens, though; 70% of people 50 – 64 are online.
  • The higher their income level, the more likely it is that someone has broadband access.
  • 94% of college grads are online, while only 39% of people with less than a high school education are.
  • 58% have a desktop computer. 46% have a laptop.
  • 54% of bloggers consider themselves experts on whatever it is they’re blogging about.
  • Norway ranked number 1 of the country with the highest level of Internet penetration. It’s odd that the United States is in 5th place.
  • Japan has the fastest Internet connections on average. No surprise there. (Not sure if this is accurate. The last time I checked, it was Korea.)

Site Recommendation: Pixlr Editor

January 13th, 2010

Pixlr Logo

Okay. From now on, I will try to update my blog once in a while with some site recommendation that I think is interesting and helpful for everyone. My first site recommendation is the Pixlr Editor. This can be a very big help for all designers out there or for some quick photo editing, cropping or any sort of what basic photoshop software can do. The best thing here is that this Photo editor software is a web-based software and is FREE! Very useful for emergency needs of editing or cropping a picture. I always use this whenever I bump into a computer with no Adobe Photoshop installed and I need to edit or resize a picture in an instant.

Google Chrome Extensions Beta Launched

December 9th, 2009

solar-eclipseThis is a very good news for all Google Chrome users out there. Yesterday, Google Chrome released the Google Chrome Extensions with around 300 extensions already as well as the Google Chrome for Mac. But please take note to all Mac users that the Google Chrome extensions will work only for PC/Windows version of the browser.

Announcement on the release from Google Chrome blog:

“Today, we’re really happy to release a beta of extensions that begins to deliver on our initial vision. Extensions are as easy to create as webpages. Users can install and uninstall them quickly without restart, and extensions have a great polished look that fits in with Google Chrome’s minimalist aesthetic. When developers upload an extension it is available to users immediately, with limited restrictions and manual reviews only in a few situations.”

With this release, Chrome users will definitely be happy and excited to check out the different extensions. I still personally prefer Firefox with regards to the power of add-ons and extensions. The 300 Chrome extension definitely can’t be compared to the thousand of existing quality of Firefox add-ons, but Chrome can eventually get on that level. The good news is that, you don’t need to restart Chrome when installing or uninstalling extensions.

God of War III

November 27th, 2009

One of my favorite Playstation game of all time will release it’s fifth and final chapter after the success of God of War series; God of War, God of War: Chain of Olympus, God of War: Betrayal and God of War II.

God of War III

God of War III has a lot of exciting gameplay features very much alike the previous releases. There are 2 weapons confirmed so far. First is the trademark and very popular Blades of Athena which Kratos used since the first release, and the Cestus, a pair of fist gauntlet or a knuckle similar to Gauntlet of Zeus with a shaped like lion heads. The Cestus has the ability to smash through solid objects like rocks, doors, etc. more like the ability that the Gauntlet of Zeus can do. As part of his adventures in God of War II, Kratos still wears the Golden Fleece and the Icarus wings in trailers and demo that I’ve seen so far. I also saw a Bow and Arrow weapon on one of the demos in YouTube. They also added new combos and enhanced combos from the other GOW series. :)

Release date: March 2010
Platform: PlayStation 3

Here’s a demo gameplay of God of War III from EuroGamer Expo 2009:

V7Network RoundTable – Live Training Chat

September 20th, 2009

V7Network, the most friendliest webmaster community on the internet launched a brilliant idea that I think would be a good benefit to a lot of their members specially those who are just starting their careers and businesses online. It’s been a week I guess since this information has been posted at v7n forums. The live training chat will cover interesting topics about Search Engine Optimization, Online Marketing and Web Development.

Take note that the training is absolutely FREE for v7n members.

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to introduce the V7Network RoundTable live training chats to the community. These will be structured interactive text chats covering a wide range of topics for webmasters and small business owners, focused 100% on helping our members build a highly successful online presence. At this time, our plan is to offer this training 2-4 times a month based on the response from the community.

Our first live training chat is scheduled for September 23, 2009 at 1:00 pm CST. We will be discussing ways to evaluate your site (and the tools that I personally use) to determine what types of changes you may need to consider making in terms of SEO and marketing techniques. Afterward, we will be opening things up for questions and answers.

If what you are currently doing is working, please do not consider changing a single thing. In fact, you probably don’t need this type of training. If however you find yourself not getting the results that you have hoped for, then perhaps it is time to think about sitting down and spending some time with us at the V7Network RoundTable and see if maybe we can brainstorm through some ideas for you!

We will open the chat area approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the training session. If you are not already logged in, you will need to log in using your V7N user name and password. I expect the training session to last 1-2 hours, based on the number of member questions.

Sign-up Here if you are not yet a member. :)
